Gina Bullis "Go Beyond Consulting"

In this edition of the Jacobs Radio Spotlight, I had an in-depth conversation with Gina Bullis, the founder of Go Beyond Consulting, a company that has helped individuals and organizations grow for the past 15 years.

Gina’s energy, passion, and understanding of leadership are immediately noticeable. Her background in finance and operations gives her a structured, disciplined foundation — but her gift, and clearly her calling, is helping people grow into the best versions of themselves.

And here’s some great news for our region:

Gina is relocating to the Tri-Cities in 2026, bringing her leadership institute, coaching network, and training expertise directly to the 509.

The Heart Behind Go Beyond Consulting

When I asked Gina what inspired her to launch Go Beyond Consulting, she opened up about her natural evolution from finance into leadership development.

“My background was always in finance and operations, and that’s what got me in the door at every organization. But every single time, without fail, I found myself gravitating toward the people — helping them grow, helping them communicate better, helping them develop confidence and emotional intelligence. I realized that was the part of the work that energized me the most. Finance was the skillset, but people development was the passion. Over time, it became clear that if I focused solely on one organization, my impact was limited. I wanted to help more people, across more industries, discover, develop, and deploy the greatness already inside them.”

That realization became the foundation of Go Beyond Consulting.

A New Chapter in the 509

Gina shared just how ready she is for this next season in her life:

“I’m so excited to be in a larger community again. I’m coming from a smaller town, and while that’s been wonderful, I’m really looking forward to the energy, diversity, and opportunities that the Tri-Cities offer. I want to work with nonprofits, school districts, associations, businesses — anyone who is committed to investing in their people. The Tri-Cities will give me a broader base of organizations right at my front door, and I can’t wait to start building those relationships.”

Who Go Beyond Consulting Serves

One of the strongest points Gina made was that leadership is not a position — it’s influence.

“You can lead from any seat. Leadership is not reserved for people with a certain title. It’s the ability to influence your environment, impact others in a positive way, and bring out the best in the people around you. I work with CEOs, executives, mid-level managers, new professionals, frontline staff — everyone. Because everyone benefits from emotional intelligence, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and composure under pressure.”

Gina works with a cross-section of industries including engineering, construction, education, nonprofits, and corporate organizations.

The Go Beyond Leadership Institute

Gina’s Leadership Institute is one of her most powerful offerings — 10 carefully designed courses that build leadership skills step by step.

“What I kept seeing over 25 years is that people needed flexible, accessible tools — something they could take in chunks, apply right away, and master over time. Not everyone can take two days off for a conference or enroll in a degree program. So the Leadership Institute is designed to give people meaningful, meaty growth in 15-minute pieces or in full sessions. It’s self-paced, accessible on your phone, and completely customizable. People can take a single 15-minute lesson and apply it for a week. And the best part is that the learning becomes immediately actionable.”

The most sought-after modules so far?

  • Self-awareness

  • Composure

  • Emotional intelligence

Gina explained why:

“Self-awareness and composure are the foundation of leadership. You can’t lead others well if you aren’t managing yourself well. And emotional intelligence impacts how you communicate, how you influence, how you adapt, how you handle conflict, and ultimately how others respond to your leadership.”

One-on-One Coaching: A Customized Approach

Many organizations want deeper, more personalized growth, and Gina has built a strong coaching network with that in mind.

“I have eight incredible coaches who each run their own consulting businesses. They’ve all been vetted through Go Beyond Consulting, and I trust them deeply. When a client comes to me, I evaluate the context — the personality, the goals, the challenges — and then I match them with the coach who fits them best. Sometimes I’m not the right fit, and that’s okay. The client experience is more important than my ego. What matters is giving them the support that will create real growth.”

Organizations often reach out when they want to invest in emerging leaders who need support in communication, composure, conflict resolution, or leadership readiness.

What Separates Great Leaders From Average Leaders

This is where Gina’s expertise really shines. Her breakdown of great leadership was detailed, thoughtful, and grounded in real experience.

“Great leaders are self-reflective. They have a high level of self-awareness and they’re constantly checking in with themselves. They understand their tendencies, their triggers, and how they show up to other people. They also have the ability to regulate themselves — that’s composure. Composure is what allows you to pause instead of reacting. It keeps you from escalating situations. It helps you listen more fully and respond more intentionally.”

She continued:

“Humility is essential. Leaders who think they’ve ‘arrived’ are leaders who stop growing. You never finish learning to communicate. You never finish learning how to manage conflict. You never stop improving your emotional intelligence. The best leaders are always learners — always curious, always open.”

And then she hit on one of the most overlooked leadership skills:

“Listening is not agreement. Listening is acknowledgment. And acknowledgment tells people they are valued. When a leader listens — really listens — it transforms team culture. People don’t need to get their way, but they need to know their voice matters.”

She also emphasized leadership agility:

“The world changes constantly. Leaders who thrive are leaders who pivot quickly, who adapt, who don’t get stuck in old ways of thinking. Agility is one of the greatest indicators of long-term success.”

Growth Is Intentional — Not Accidental

One of Gina’s strongest messages was about ownership in personal development.

“The only thing that grows without intentional effort is your physical height — and maybe a little extra weight around the holidays. Everything else requires focus and investment. Leadership doesn’t just happen. You have to practice it like a skill. Professional athletes go back to the basics every single day. Leaders have to do the same — communication, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, composure — these are the fundamentals. And when you invest in yourself, you invest in your future opportunities.”
